Week 4 - Early early early prototyping
A late post!
The team got really busy with life and being an adult or whatever, and progress has slowed somewhat. However, progress was still made! We've organized our developer roles more concisely. One of us is working on player movement, another is on level transitions, and another on enemy AI. For our upcoming prototype, we plan on combining the progress of all the dev work into one project, so the whole team can access it to make changes or test things.
We also have finalized all the character concept art! The visuals for all enemies and NPCs have been decided on, along with a general narrative. Moving forward, it will be nice to start art generation early in a project as usually things like polish and finalized assets are left to the last few weeks. We've also created a 3D model for the main character that's been rigged and coloured. The subtle movement animations in our game will be key to add a extra layer of depth to our game feel, so this will be important to start pumping out those animations.
We will continue to iterate on our game design documents as we move forward. Playtesting is coming up this week and should be really insightful for what we need to work on during the early development phase. We hope to get back on track and polish up whatever problems surface during playtesting.
